Tattoo: hygiene rules

Tattooing is an act of body modification that causes minor trauma to the body by repetition of skin lesions. By inviting yourself to the dermis level, that is, under the skin, your tattoo artist's needle will create many micro wounds. He said so, maybe scary, we agree. But in reality, everything is very simple: if you and your tattoo artist follow certain rules, there will be no problems. An overview of the various points to check before drawing on the tattooist's hand (gloved).

NB: The golden rule we ask you to abide by at all costs is simple: don't invite tattooists home! The act of tattooing must be carried out in a disinfected environment. By a home tattooist, we mean tattoo artists who offer to come and get a tattoo at home!

A few simple rules to follow! If you see that this is not the case, run away ...

-Antiseptic hand cleaning.

-Wearing disposable gloves.

-The table is cleaned and covered with disposable plastic wrap.

Also make sure that your tattoo artist does not fiddle with a telephone receiver or a door wrist by following these guidelines. This would undermine the effectiveness of previous actions.

Obviously, the material used must be sterile. There are two options for this: either a new one or a disposable one (in the case of needles, this will always be the case). Or your tattoo artist will sterilize his equipment in an autoclave (this is possible with the elements that make up the so-called support, namely the nozzle, sleeve and tube).

If in doubt, especially ask your tattoo artist. And check what he tells you. If he is using a disposable material, all he has to do is show you the packaged material before getting you a tattoo. If he uses an autoclave, ask (naively) to show the car. And yes, you are curious!

Nothing beats directly verifying that the above principles are met. However, if you are a concern, here are some additional measures you can take.

Check your tattoo artist's medical degree: All tattoo artists must receive hygiene and sanitation training. You can easily verify this by asking your tattoo artist to show you his training certificate.

Ink origin: There are many suppliers and just as many different prices in terms of ink. French and European materials are more expensive and generally of better quality than ink from China. Feel free to check it out. It will also give you a better understanding of the paint choices!

Please be aware that we are posting these policies for your information. But the simplest rule is to contact a studio recognized for the quality of its work and its reliability. We are lucky that there are many of them in France. Find out before making an appointment!
