The wide-ranging Museum of Modern Art in Los Angeles is in its first year, and they've already made an impact across the country. Collectors and philanthropists Eli and Edith Broad created this museum to showcase their collection and decided that admission to the museum would be free.

This museum is an extension of the Brod family foundation with an initiative to increase access to art for the community. Founded in 1984, The Broad Art Foundation is a pioneer in providing a library to expand access to contemporary art from around the world.

The new 120,000-square-foot museum with two floors of gallery space is open to the public.

The Brod family focused on collecting contemporary art, based on the idea that the greatest art collections are created when art is created. However, they have been collecting for over 30 years, and their collection began with a post-impressionist well known for his influence on the XNUMXth century: Van Gogh.

Their extensive collection of over 2,000 works is the source of the foundation's loans. The Loan Fund assumes all packaging, shipping and insurance responsibilities during exhibitions of works. The organization has provided over 8,000 loans to over 500 international museums and galleries.

Creating a museum to display your collection is an effective strategy for displaying your art to the public without following museum rules. Generally, donating to a museum involves ceding any preferences regarding the display of your artwork. If you are interested in donating your art to the museum, you can.

In any case, as a collector, you have the right to influence and even support the art education of your community around the world. It's easy to forget that your precious work can be shared when it fits so well in your living room. Using your collection, whether it's a museum donation, educating the public, or building a museum, is a great way to give back.
