Breast implants - everything you want to know

As you know, every woman wants to feel attractive and confident. Not only for her environment, but above all for herself. Many women have a complex because of small or deformed breasts, because of which our self-esteem drops significantly. In such cases, it is worth considering whether breast implants will change this bad self-image. Every year more and more women choose breast implants. This procedure is readily available and the implants used during the procedure are of the highest quality. No wonder they have become so popular these days.

Breast implants

Breast implants are nothing more than a type of prosthesis, which is characterized by the fact that it is used to increase female size or to correct the shape of the female breast. This procedure is often chosen by women who have lost one breast as a result of a serious illness and wish to regain their former appearance.

How to choose the right breast implants?

First of all, it is necessary to consider whether the changes being made should be a more natural or less natural effect. Because some women decide to increase their breasts by several sizes, and some women prefer that the result of the treatment is a small correction. When choosing the size and structure of breast implants, you should also consider the dimensions of your body. Because large breast implants are not always suitable for a delicate person. However, this is not a determining factor, because some people want such a specific effect. However, it must be remembered that, like everything else, the human body also has its limitations. Therefore, not every dream can be fully realized. This is mainly due to health issues, but also aesthetics. Because the most important aspect is that everything should be safe and beneficial for the patient. Therefore, you should fully trust the surgeon and, if necessary, change priorities. When choosing the type of filling, it should also be taken into account that breast implants that are round in shape can cause a skin fold on the breast. On the other hand, after implantation of inserts, which are characterized by a sterile saline preparation, the breast will appear much more natural. Another point to be emphasized is that the most natural effect can be achieved when using implant components with silicone gel. This is due to the fact that the gel substance contained in the silicone implant imitates breast tissue very well, and also has good cohesiveness. The gel placed in the implant also minimizes the risk of leakage. Therefore, it is quite safe for human health. The implants currently produced are among the most modern and in most cases do not require replacement, as was necessary several years ago.

The most important parameters of breast implants

Speaking about the most important parameters of breast implants, it is necessary to specify such elements as: surface, filling, protrusion of the implant, as well as the shape of the base. The surface, as one of the parameters of breast implants, is characterized as smooth implants (i.e. having a smooth and uniform surface), textured implants (i.e. having a rough surface that prevents rotation of the anatomical implant), as well as B .-lite implants ( i.e. ultra-light, and their filling is silicone and additionally connected with air-filled microspheres). Implants characterized by a smooth surface are not as popular today as they were a few years ago, and such an implant model is considered obsolete and is produced very rarely. The textured surface is designed to provide a velvety feel to the touch, because with this type of implant it fuses better with the breast.

The other issue mentioned is the filling, which is that we have a choice of both silicone and b-lite. With regard to the latter option, it is characterized by the fact that the filling corresponds to the weight of the implant, which is as much as 30 percent less compared to a standard filling. When discussing the issue of a seal, its types should also be mentioned, and these include cohesive silicone, saline, and Baker dilators. Cohesive silicone is considered the most popular type of breast filling. This is because silicone is believed to most closely mimic the structure of the human body. Physiological saline solution has the advantage, in particular, that it does not require a large surgical incision. This is because the implant is first inserted into the patient's body and then filled with a solution. On the other hand, Baker expanders are nothing more than implants, which are characterized by combined filling. Such an implant is placed in the patient's body with a small incision in the skin. The implant thus inserted is then partially filled with silicone gel and partially with saline.

The next question was the projection of the implant, i.e. so-called profile. The projection of the implant is nothing more than a specific parameter that allows you to determine how much the breast should be extended and how much the patient's décolleté should be filled. Of course, this distance is measured in centimeters. It should also be noted that this type of selection of breast implants is rarely used and in a small number of patients, since the most common problems encountered when choosing this method were, among other things, issues related to too close or too far implants. Curves were visible in the armpits and the implants were too narrow or too wide for the patient's natural breasts. At the moment, the following profiles are distinguished: low, medium and high.

On the other hand, with regard to the shape of the posture, in this case it is possible to choose between anatomical implants, which are characterized by the fact that in cross section they have the shape of a drop, or they have a round shape with a round base.

Anatomical or round implants - what to choose?

Well, when it comes to choosing between anatomical implants and round implants, it's an individual matter, depending on the taste of the patient. On the other hand, it is safe to say that anatomical implants are not symmetrical, which means that there is a greater risk of rotation. However, it should be noted that this risk is small. Because, as various studies show, the risk is only less than 2 percent, so it is practically negligible. Of course, it should be noted that it is extremely important that appropriate preoperative planning is necessary to prevent such complications, which will be based on the choice of a good surgical technique. In a situation where recurrent rotation occurs, it will be necessary to replace anatomical implants with round ones. Round implants differ in that they give the impression of a full breast. This is due to the fact that their volume increases both in the lower part of the chest and in the upper one. The implants are evenly spaced and conform to the natural structure of the patient's body. It should also be noted that round implants are completely symmetrical, so they do not contribute to changing the appearance of the breast during movement. In a situation where the patient is very thin, the shape of the implant will be of key importance. It should also be noted that in some situations the use of an anatomical implant produces similar effects to a round implant. This occurs when the patient's natural breasts are sufficiently rounded.

Contraindications for breast augmentation surgery

Like any other procedure, the breast augmentation procedure also has some contraindications. Such contraindications include, first of all, such questions as:

  • occurrence of tumors
  • occurrence of severe liver disease
  • having severe kidney disease
  • problems with blood clotting
  • the occurrence of diseases associated with the circulatory system
  • pregnancy
  • breast-feeding
  • problems with deep vein thrombosis
  • the occurrence of pulmonary diseases
  • occurrence of untreated endocrine problems
  • obesity problems
  • problems associated with heart disease

Indications for breast augmentation surgery

As for the indications for breast augmentation surgery, first of all, these should be such problems as: the presence of an asymmetric breast, dissatisfaction with the size of the breast, loss of the breast as a result of a disease.

Complications after breast augmentation surgery

Complications after breast augmentation surgery include, in particular, such problems as: eversion of the implant, as well as the possibility of the formation of a fibrous sac around the implant. As for the possibility of implant twisting, it should be noted here that this possibility is a harmless complication for the human body, although the occurrence of this complication will require additional intervention by the surgeon. In turn, the possibility of the formation of a fibrous sac around the breast implant occurs in up to 15 percent of women who decide to have a breast augmentation.
