Career Diaries: Meet Margarethe de Heinrich, Founder of Omorovicza

As the old saying goes, love comes first, then marriage. But when it comes to Margarethe de Heinrich, the adage goes: “First love, then the start of a new skincare brand called Omorovicza.” The story began when Margaret and her current husband Stephen met in Budapest. They decided to start their own skincare business after discovering the transformative healing power of Hungarian thermal baths. Since its inception, Omorovicza has become a globally recognized beauty brand with an extensive line of cleansing balms, moisturizers, face masks and more. Now, as a mother of four, wife, entrepreneur and co-founder of a luxury skincare brand, Margarethe de Heinrich clearly does it all. In front, we sat down with this enterprise to learn more about her history and Omorović.

How did you get started in your skin care career?

We started our adventure, Omorovic, when we fell in love with the transformative healing properties we experienced firsthand in Budapest. We wanted to share this experience and results.

What are the benefits of Hungarian thermal waters for skin care?

There is so much. It really depends on the individual sources, as different combinations of minerals can give different results, but in general, these minerals make the skin more supple and firm.

When did your passion for skincare start?

I can't remember a time when my heart didn't sing when I tried a new product. My first skincare was 3 Step by Clinique when I was about 12 years old. I remember every moment of that shopping trip, including where it was, why I bought it, everything.

What does a typical day look like for you?

I'm sure, like many entrepreneurs or mothers, I don't have a typical day. But I can share my favorite type of day that starts with waking up early around 5:30 am. Then hot water with lemon, a little meditation or tai chi with Steven, exercise, waking up the kids (all four), breakfast, driving to school, and then heading to the office. When I am there, I will have meetings with the team to discuss our projects. Lunch at my desk when I watch all the world's political, economic and industry news (I'm obsessed) and then meet with clients in the afternoon. When I get home, I spend the day helping with homework and finally having dinner with my family.

How do you balance time between work, travel and motherhood?

It's a real fight, but I love every minute of it. The secret is lots of planning. In addition, I try to take time for myself to collect my thoughts (dream) every day. I also love reflexology and try to attend it weekly.

What is your daily skin care routine?

It changes depending on what new products we are testing, what time of year it is and the condition of my skin. But usually I always cleanse twice, use essence, and usually mix our Miracle Facial Oil with whatever moisturizer I use.

If you only had to recommend one of your skin care products, which would it be?

Impossible question. Either an anti-aging night cream, or a miracle oil for the face.

Do you have any advice for aspiring female entrepreneurs?

Find a mentor. We made so many mistakes that it would be great to have a Sherpa along the way.

What does beauty mean to you?

Beauty is a catalyst. It is something that can inspire us to exceed our own expectations and reach our potential - intellectually, aesthetically, emotionally.

What's next for you and the brand?

It's such an interesting, stressful time. Developing your own stores is indeed at the top of the list.
